Nepochyboval nevěřícně o Božím zaslíbení, ale posílil se ve víře, a tak vzdal slávu Bohu. Byl totiž přesvědčen, že co Bůh zaslíbil, dokáže i splnit, a právě to „mu bylo počítáno za spravedlnost.“
