Main Idea: Freedom is Living How You Were Created
True freedom isn’t about doing whatever you want; it’s about doing what you were created to do.
A fish might want to walk on land, or a bird might want to swim underwater, but neither would be free in those environments. A salmon on the shore and a half-drowned hawk aren’t “living their dreams,” they’re dying outside their design.
Likewise, you were not created to be the ruler of your own life. You were made to live in the will of God. It’s here, doing what you were made to do, that you are most free.
When you are in Christ, you are a new creation. As you follow Jesus, He shapes your desires to look more and more like His. You begin to want what He wants. So while He fully rules your life, you are also completely free. And as part of that, your identity in Him is being shaped day by day.
Reflection Questions:
- What does it mean to you that real freedom comes from living the way God designed you to live, not just doing whatever you want?
- In what areas of your life do you need to trust in God's design and that it will lead to greater freedom than your own plans?
