Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! (Matthew 23:37 NKJV).

Does your will reflect the Father’s desire for all men to be saved?

Consider Jesus, the one who came to do His Father’s will. His name means Jehovah Savior, and he lives up to this name. The angel told Mary, “for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21 NKJV). The Father dispatches the Son to be the Savior of the world, and Luke beautifully articulates the purpose of Jesus’ first coming: “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10 NKJV). Our Lord becomes the model evangelist, passionately pursuing the unsaved and setting the standard for all who identify with the deliverer of our souls, because He was doing His Father’s will.

Now, imagine a master artist painting a masterpiece. Each brushstroke is intentional, serving a purpose to bring the canvas to life. Likewise, Jesus, the divine artist, meticulously pursues each soul. His desire, like the artist's strokes, is deliberate and purposeful.

Like Jesus, the apostle Paul's will reflects the Father’s will. Paul told Timothy to pray for the salvation of those in authority, as God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4 NKJV).

Does your will reflect God’s desire for all men to be saved? Let’s purpose to share the Gospel today and please our heavenly Father!

Employment Point: Seek to have the heart of God by desiring all people to be saved.

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
