Devotional:
Luke 1 tells the incredible story of the angel Gabriel visiting Mary, a young woman likely no older than a teenager, living in a small, insignificant town. Gabriel tells her she has been chosen to carry the Son of God—a message that would have sounded completely impossible. Mary was a virgin, living in a culture where such a claim could ruin her reputation, yet she was being invited into God’s miraculous plan for salvation.

Gabriel reminds Mary of God’s faithfulness by pointing to her cousin Elizabeth, who had conceived a child in her old age after years of barrenness. Then he declares,“For no word from God will ever fail.” In the Greek, this phrase means that every spoken word of God is fully capable of accomplishing what it declares. Nothing God says is empty; His Word carries His power to perform it.

Mary’s response is stunning:“I am the Lord’s servant… May your word to me be fulfilled” (Luke 1:38). She didn’t demand proof or ask for a detailed plan. She surrendered in faith to something she couldn’t fully understand. Through her yes, the impossible became reality: the Word became flesh, and salvation entered the world.

This story is a reminder that God is still in the business of doing the impossible. The same God who brought life to Elizabeth’s barren womb and placed the Savior of the world in Mary’s womb is writing your story today. Whatever feels impossible—a broken relationship, financial breakthrough, healing, a dream that feels too big—He is faithful to fulfill every word He has spoken.

Faith is not about understanding every step; it’s about trusting the One who holds every step in His hands. His promises are not suggestions or wishes; they are declarations that will not return void (Isaiah 55:11).

Thought to Ponder:
What “impossible” promise has God spoken over my life that I need to surrender to Him and believe He will fulfill?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that nothing You say is impossible. Strengthen my faith to trust Your Word even when I don’t see the way forward. Help me surrender every fear and dream to You, knowing Your plans are perfect, and Your promises will never fail. Amen.
