GENESIS 49
Jacob has God's grace in being able to bless all his children before he departs. Among these blessings, we find the blessing of Judah. Yes, the son who initiated the plan against his younger brother; the son who loses two sons as a consequence of his sin. Judah can be considered the most blessed son of all, because from him the Lord decides to raise up a Scepter of Justice — the One who would redeem us all: Jesus. In the story of the Bible, we see that God's favorite Son is also known as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
Jesus came to redeem the nations and, with that, also redeemed his own tribe. Humanly speaking, Judah had no right to receive something so powerful — God Himself in human form, born as his descendant — but the Lord shows, once again, that His justice is different from human justice, that His plans are fulfilled despite us and our sin. From the story of Judah, we learn that God is the One who has the power to redeem peoples and generations in whatever way He chooses.
LET'S PRAY:
Take some time and think about areas in your history that need God's forgiveness, parts that seem broken or far from what the Kingdom of God determines. Then pray that the Lord will bring forgiveness upon your life, family, and generations. The blood of Jesus has the power to transform and restore everything that seems distorted, you can hold on to that!
