Stripped of Shame – Your Identity in Christ
Imagine the scene: the people of Israel on the edge of the Promised Land. A new generation, born in the wilderness, that did not bear the mark of the covenant yet. Then God's voice resounds through Joshua: “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt” (Joshua 5:9 NLT).
This declaration is not just history; it has power for you today. Just as they were freed from humiliation by grace, so are you in Christ. “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1 NLT). This is your new foundation, a fresh start thanks to God’s love.
It is crucial to understand that we are not our mistakes or sins. Our past does not define or limit us. Through Jesus, our identity is completely transformed. We are what He did for us. He made us children of God and restored our identity as such. We no longer need to live in shame—we are loved and accepted by Him.
Reflection questions:
• What are you most ashamed of?
• How would your life change knowing God sees you without shame?
• What small step can you take today to remind yourself that you are loved by God?
Prayer:
God, thank You for removing my shame through Jesus. Help me live knowing I am Your beloved child. In Jesus' name, amen.
