The call of this plan—and the call over your life—is simple yet profound:
BE.LOVED.
It’s part identity. Part invitation.
You are God’s Beloved. Do you dare believe that’s your true identity?
He calls you to be loved. Will you accept the invitation and allow yourself to receive what your heart has longed for?
The deepest yearning of my heart was to know what it meant to be loved by a dad. My parents divorced before I turned one. I only saw my father at Easter and Christmas—beautiful moments, but not enough to form a secure attachment. His name was “Dad,” but I never truly experienced the intimacy of a father. I never knew what it felt like to rest my head on his chest or feel the safety of his arms around me.
Years later, while living in the UK, I heard someone preach on Deuteronomy 33:12: "Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders."
I was stunned. That verse captured the very ache I had buried for years. I read it over and over, meditating on it day and night. I longed to not just know this truth—I wanted to feel it. I wanted to say yes to the Father’s invitation and be loved.
Years later, after sharing my testimony at a youth event, a prophetic artist approached me. She said God had told her to draw a picture of His daughter with her Father, and that picture was for me. In her drawing, I saw what I had always longed for: my head on the Father’s chest, resting between His shoulders. (Below is that picture.)
Even now—25 years later—that picture hangs in my office. It still speaks to my soul. I am known. I am seen. I am loved. I belong.
So let me remind you today: you were created for belonging.
The gospel doesn’t just forgive your sins—it restores your place in the family.
You are not just saved—you are adopted. You are not just healed—you are held.
We have access to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16), identity through adoption (Romans 8:15), and security in the Father's love (Ephesians 1:4–5). Your identity as God’s beloved is not symbolic—it is covenantal. The Father's love is not distant or abstract. It is fierce, near, and restorative. His family is your forever home.
Reflection Questions:
- What parts of your story have shaped your view of God as Father?
- Are you willing to receive His invitation to rest between His shoulders?
Prayer:
Abba Father, thank You for loving me with a perfect, unchanging love. Heal the places in me that still wrestle with fear, striving, or abandonment. Teach me to rest in the truth that I am Your beloved. I choose to believe, I choose to belong. Amen.
