Be Your Best to Give Your Best!

Day 19 — Who Is Getting the Best of You?

On this journey of aligning with God’s will, it is essential to ask ourselves this question: “To whom – or to what – am I giving the best of myself?”

Time and energy are not infinite. Every day - consciously or subconsciously- we make choices about how and where to distribute them, and if we are honest in our evaluation, we realize that the best portions of our day—the moments when we have full physical and emotional energy, when our focus is sharp, and our mind is clear—are not always focused on what should truly have priority.

It is not only about how much time we dedicate to what truly matters, but also the quality of time we are investing. How often have we been physically present with someone, yet inwardly, we were drained and emotionally elsewhere? How many times have we convinced ourselves that “just showing up” was enough, when deep down we knew we were not offering our best?

Our family, work colleagues, closest friends, and personal relationship with God can end up receiving only the leftovers of our day—after we have already poured out everything we had on commitments of secondary importance or urgent demands that were not truly essential.

The Word reminds us: “Everyone should take care of their own people. Most of all, they should take care of their own family” (1 Timothy 5:8, ERV). This is not merely a duty; it is a responsibility. If God has entrusted you with a relationship, that relationship deserves your best. If He has given you a family, a ministry, a project, or a vision, then that deserves the best of you.

It is time to review our priorities—not according to the urgency of outside demands, but according to the order of value established by God.

Prayer: Lord, today I choose to be fully present for the people You have placed in my life. Help me to recognize what truly matters and not to waste my energy on what is not part of Your design for me. Teach me to give the best of myself—my time, my focus, and my emotional energy—to what aligns with Your will. Make me faithful, intentional, and present where You are calling me to be. Amen.
