Evangelize Everywhere: Work Editionنموونە

When closing out the evangelize everywhere Bible Plan (make sure you read that one too!), I couldn’t help but think about providing specific tips for navigating the mission fields among us. Whether you realize it or not, the workplace is one of our most significant mission fields for evangelism. Consider this statistic from Andrew Naber of Gettysburg College, who calculated that the average person will spend approximately 90,000 hours in their lifetime at work. Doing the basic math, that works out to be about 3,750 days, or a little over 10 years.
Regardless of how you prefer to consume that information, I think we can agree that it's a lot of time spent at work. Now obviously, unless you spend your whole working career working for a church, ministry, or as a missionary, you can’t use all of that time evangelizing, right? Or can you? Furthermore, I’m sure you can say that some of your coworkers really need Jesus!
But let’s be honest, sometimes you don’t feel like talking to your coworkers about life outside, or perhaps you have made the statement, “I’m just here to get paid.” And trust me, I get you! Or maybe you do feel the burden to evangelize at work, but you’re trying to figure out how to navigate it appropriately.
Over the next few days, I aim to equip you with the skills to evangelize effectively in the workplace. Prayerfully, the tips shared here spur you to expand your evangelism toolbelt to include your job. When Jesus gave the great commission, it was not limited to our routine church attendance, but it meant everywhere we go, and that includes where we work.
Prayer: Lord, help me to evangelize at my job, for I know that part of my responsibility is to share the gospel everywhere I go. Help give me the boldness to go into work with you on my mind and how to be an effective witness for you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
