RETURN to ME: Reading With the People of God #16نموونە

Video Primer: Nahum — by BibleProject
Today’s readings ask us to hold two powerful truths in tension: God is merciful, and God is just.
We begin with Jonah 4, where the prophet is angry—not because God was harsh, but because He was too merciful. Jonah didn’t want Nineveh to be spared, even though he knew God is “gracious and compassionate...slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Jonah 4:2 NIV). It's a striking glimpse of how we can want grace for ourselves but not for others.
Then we turn to Nahum 1, where the tone shifts. This time, Nineveh faces judgment—not because God has changed, but because Nineveh did. The repentance of Jonah’s day didn’t last. The BibleProject overview of Nahum will help you understand the historical background and how God's justice unfolds. Take the time—it's engaging, thoughtful, and will give you the perspective you need to appreciate this often-overlooked book.
In Mark 12, Jesus sees what others miss: proud religious leaders who love power, and a poor widow who gives all she has. His justice and mercy are still at work, seeing through appearances to the heart.
Watch. Read. Reflect. God is slow to anger—but not indifferent to injustice. What kind of heart are you bringing to Him today?
