Glory of Godنموونە

The love and protection of a glorious God
When I think about the glory of God, I think about fire. Beautiful to gaze at from a distance, with the ability to provide warmth and light… but if we get too close, the heat would be overwhelming and that same flame would damage our fragile, mortal, human bodies.
God’s glory is magnificent and all consuming. In this verse He describes Himself very physically, referring to His back and hand, but the truth is God’s glory is anything but physical. While we can experience being in His manifest presence to an extent, to experience His glory in its fullness is too great for our minds to comprehend, too powerful for us to stand. The Bible says just seeing where God had been left Moses’ face ‘radiant’, the after effect of being in the Lord’s presence.
God knew He could not show Moses His glory when Moses asked to see it. God knew it was too powerful to reveal to Moses in full… but He was gracious enough to grant Moses’ request. He revealed Himself to Moses while still keeping Moses within the protection and safety of His covering.
The glory of God had the power to incinerate Moses because of its perfect pureness, but instead God protected Moses even while lovingly granting his request. He does the same thing for us today. He protects and loves us while encouraging us to seek Him and experience intimacy with Him. He reveals Himself perfectly, and loves us perfectly. This is our God.
