Day 3: I Work Hard in Dependence on God

My work is in the world of innovation and tech startups—where bold, improbable ideas sometimes grow into thriving companies. But the truth is, for every success story, there are many others that don’t make it. Failure is part of the journey, and learning to navigate loss is essential.

A mentor once told me, “If you learned something, it wasn’t a failure.” That stayed with me.

There are times when we work hard, do everything right, and still don’t see the results we hoped for. I once had to stand before my team and announce that we were shutting the company down. It was one of the hardest moments of my professional life.

And yet, right there in that moment of uncertainty, some of my Christian colleagues came to me and said, “Don’t worry. God will provide.” And He did.

Some ventures will succeed, others will fall short—but the outcomes are not in our hands. They belong to God. He is the one who holds the final word, and He is faithful in every season—whether we’re building or letting go.

The story of the miraculous catch of fish in Luke 5 shows us that Jesus cares about our work—and the results ultimately depend on Him. We can do everything with excellence, but the final word is always His.

“Jesus, You are the ultimate authority. Help me trust in You as I work with dedication. May my greatest hope not be in my abilities, but in knowing that You are in the boat with me. Whatever the outcome, I want to worship You with everything I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
