Journaling Through Lentنموونە

Repentance from Gossip
The Bible has a lot of warnings about the use of our words and how destructive our tongues can be. Gossip is so easy to partake in and so difficult to put a hard stop to. Proverbs is clear that stirring up conflict using our words is a perverse thing. The same verse also says that gossip separates close friends. Negative words spoken about a person behind their back bear no good fruit. We are all probably aware of it but somehow find ourselves indulging in gossip ever so often.
Today, let’s come before God and repent of the words we’ve spoken about others that tear them down. It doesn’t matter whether we believe the words we are speaking are true or not; if they aren’t building someone up, they are in vain.
Let’s ask God to cleanse our speech and help us take a strong stand against gossip. Let’s commit to being people who speak words that bring life.
Journaling Prompt:
Today, reflect on the words “Speak Life”. Take your journaling time to depict the impact of words. Use contrasting imagery to represent the harm of gossip and the healing power of uplifting words.
