Repentance from Selfish Ambition
Selfishness is another sneaky one, like pride. It can slither its way into our lives and become a roadblock to the servant-heartedness that God calls each of us to embrace. The world encourages selfishness and almost glorifies it. It’s a “you do you, girl” culture, and you’re urged to look out for yourself, putting your ambitions and desires first. But God’s kingdom is the opposite. God is seeking a generation of people willing to lay down their desires, put others first, and pursue Kingdom success over their own. Their agenda isn’t the most important one; they know to depend on God more. “Less of me and more of you” is their constant prayer, and they diligently seek to serve others.
Let’s take time today to repent for times when we’ve not had a servant's heart and have been selfish in our thoughts, intentions, and actions. Let’s ask God to set our hearts on eternity and give us the right perspective as we run our races here on earth. Let’s ask Him to teach us what having a servant's heart looks like.
Journaling Prompt:
Today’s journaling prompt is “servant's heart.” Illustrate the beauty of selfless service. Use imagery that captures the joy and fulfillment found in putting other's needs before your own.
