Service of Worship
August 23, 2026
Outdoor Worship Area (weather permitting) - 9:30am
We begin our prayers with praise because Jesus instructed that prayer begins with who God is, where He is, and with an active longing that our kingdoms become more like His.

God Summons Us

Call to Worship

Leader: The Lord is our shepherd; we shall not want.

All: He makes us lie down in green pastures.

Leader: He leads us beside still waters.

All: He restores our souls. He leads us in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Leader: Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil,

All: for you are with us; your rod and your staff, they comfort us.

Leader: You prepare a table before us, in the presence of our enemies;

All: you anoint us with oil; and our cup overflows.

Leader: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our life,

All: and we shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Adapted from Psalm 23

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Our God You reign forever

Our Hope our strong Deliv'rer

Chorus
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
Thy Mercy
by Isaac Watfs, John Stocker, and Sandra McCracken
2001 -- CCLI Song # 3422560 -- CCLI License # 162332

Thy mercy my God is the theme of my song
The joy of my heart and the boast of my tongue
Thy free grace alone from the first to the last
Hath won my affections and bound my soul fast

Without Thy sweet mercy I could not live here
Sin would reduce me to utter despair
But through Thy free goodness my spirits revive
And He that first made me still keeps me alive

Thy mercy is more than a match for my heart
Which wonders to feel its own hardness depart
Dissolved by Thy goodness I fall to the ground
And weep for the praise of the mercy I found

Chorus
Halleluiah (halleluiah halleluiah)

Great Father of mercies Thy goodness I own
And the covenant love of Thy crucified Son
All praise to the Spirit whose whisper divine
Seals mercy and pardon and righteousness mine
All praise to the Spirit whose whisper divine
Seals mercy and pardon and righteousness mine

Prayer for Families & Dismissal of Children
Is He Worthy
by Andrew Peterson and Ben Shive
2018 -- CCLI Song # 7108951 -- CCLI License # 162332

Do you feel the world is broken? We do
Do you feel the shadows deepen? We do
But do you know that all the dark won't stop
The light from getting through? We do
Do you wish that you could see it all made new? We do

Is all creation groaning? It is
Is a new creation coming? It is
Is the glory of the Lord to be
The light within our midst? It is
Is it good that we remind ourselves of this? It is

Chorus
Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David's Root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
Is He worthy, is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory?
Is He worthy of this? He is

Does the Father truly love us? He does
Does the Spirit move among us? He does
And does Jesus our Messiah hold
Forever those He loves? He does
Does our God intend to dwell again with us? He does

Chorus
Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David's Root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
From ev'ry people and tribe, every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God to reign with the Son
Is He worthy, is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory?
Is He worthy of this? He is
Is He worthy, is He worthy
He is
He is

Closing Song

His Mercy Is More
by Matt Boswell and Matt Papa
2016-- CCLI Song # 7065053 -- CCLI License # 162332

What love could remember no wrongs we have done
Omniscient all knowing He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many His mercy is more

Chorus
Praise the Lord His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness new every morn
Our sins they are many His mercy is more

What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father so tender is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest the vilest the poor
Our sins they are many His mercy is more

What riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment His life was the cost
We stood 'neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
God Sends Us
God the Father loves us, Jesus has reconciled us to Him, and we have the Holy Spirit.

Benediction
The with-God life sends us into our neighborhoods as His agents of neighbor love.
The Sermon on the Mount
Keys to the Kingdom
Matthew 7:24-25 ESV
24 "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
