When injustice in your Monday is ignored, Sunday worship is abhorred.
This could be criticism of landlords who demand rent that is not due or charge tenant farmers exorbitant rates, or of the royal bureaucracy imposing crippling taxes on village communities. These were not, strictly speaking, illegal but they were certainly immoral, as they financed a life of luxury for the king and his entourage at the expense of people who were driven deeper into poverty. - T.S.
