Sabem que Déu ho disposa tot en bé dels qui l’estimen, dels qui ell ha decidit cridar; perquè ell, que els coneixia des de sempre, els ha destinat a ser imatge del seu Fill, que així ha estat el primer d’una multitud de germans. I als qui havia destinat, també els ha cridat; i als qui ha cridat, també els ha fet justos; i als qui ha fet justos, també els ha glorificat. Què direm, doncs, davant d’això? Si tenim Déu amb nosaltres, qui tindrem en contra? Ell, que no va plànyer el seu propi Fill, sinó que el va entregar per tots nosaltres, com no ens ho donarà tot juntament amb ell? Qui s’alçarà per acusar els elegits de Déu, si Déu mateix els fa justos? Qui gosarà condemnar-los, si Jesucrist mateix va morir, més encara, va ressuscitar, està a la dreta de Déu i intercedeix per nosaltres?
