i per això heu oblidat les paraules d’encoratjament que Déu us adreça com a fills: Fill meu, no refusis la correcció del Senyor, no et cansis quan ell et reprèn, perquè el Senyor corregeix els qui estima, castiga els fills que ell acull . Vosaltres sofriu, doncs, per tal de rebre una correcció: Déu us tracta com a fills. Perquè, quin fill hi ha a qui el seu pare no corregeixi? Si a tots els toca la seva part de correcció però vosaltres us quedeu sense, vol dir que sou bastards i no pas fills legítims! Els nostres pares terrenals ens corregien, i no per això deixàvem de respectar-los. Molt més, doncs, ens hem de sotmetre al Pare que ens dóna l’esperit perquè visquem.
