Sapigueu reconèixer el que és agradable al Senyor. I no col·laboreu en les obres estèrils dels qui són tenebra; més aviat denuncieu-les. Tot el que fan d’amagat, fins fa vergonya de dir-ho; però quan la llum ho denuncia, tot queda en evidència, ja que les coses evidents són lluminoses. Per això diem: «Aixeca’t, tu que dorms, ressuscita d’entre els morts, i el Crist t’il·luminarà.» Mireu, doncs, atentament, com us heu de comportar: no sigueu insensats, sinó assenyats. Procureu de treure partit del moment present, perquè els temps que vivim són dolents. No sigueu irreflexius: mireu de comprendre què vol el Senyor. No us embriagueu de vi, que això porta a la disbauxa: ompliu-vos més aviat de l’Esperit. Digueu tots junts salms, himnes i càntics de l’Esperit, cantant al Senyor i lloant-lo en el vostre cor. Doneu sempre gràcies per tot a Déu Pare en nom de nostre Senyor Jesucrist.
