Freedom From Familiar: 5 Day Devotionalনমুনা

Day 4: Moving in Faith
Reflection:
The night was dark, the wind was howling, and the waves were relentless. The disciples had spent hours rowing against the storm when suddenly they saw a figure walking toward them on the water. Fear gripped them until Jesus spoke, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
In that moment, Peter did something extraordinary. He looked out across the chaos and said, “Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come to You on the water.” And when Jesus said, “Come,” Peter stepped over the edge of the stable boat onto the unstable water. Can you imagine that first step? The cold wind against his face, the waves slapping at his legs, the uncertainty in his chest, and yet, he moved. Not because he was confident in himself, but because he was confident in the One who called him.
In that moment, Peter wasn’t really walking on water; he was walking on trust. Every step was an act of faith anchored in the voice of Jesus. But when his focus shifted to the waves, fear sank him. It’s a reminder to us that faith falters when our gaze drifts from Christ to our circumstances.
There will be seasons when God calls you to step out of your boat, the place of comfort, predictability, and control. It might be a new opportunity, a ministry call, or a step of forgiveness you don’t feel ready to take. Moving in faith means you don’t have to see the whole path; you just need to trust the One who holds it.
Hebrews 11 reminds us that faith is assurance even when the outcome is unseen. Keep your eyes on Jesus, not the waves. Each step you take toward Him deepens your trust and strengthens your walk. You’ll find that what once seemed impossible becomes possible when you’re walking with the One who never lets you fall.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to move in faith and trust You completely. When I’m tempted to look at the waves of fear or doubt, lift my eyes back to You. Give me the courage to take the next step, even when I don’t see the whole picture. Thank You for being my steady foundation. Amen.
