DAY EIGHT — Called to Be God’s People
After leaving Egypt and traveling through the wilderness, the Israelites arrived at the Desert of Sinai. God didn’t just meet them there—He spoke to them with purpose: they were to be His treasured possession, a holy nation set apart from all others.
God’s call to Israel wasn’t about privilege; it was about relationship and responsibility. Being chosen meant living in obedience, reflecting His character, and walking in covenant faithfulness. Their identity as God’s people shaped every part of their journey—from how they worshiped to how they treated one another.
God calls each of His followers into relationship and purpose. We are chosen not for our merit, but because He delights in us. Our identity as God’s children is the foundation for how we live, love, and serve.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- How does it feel to know you are chosen by God?
- What does “holy” mean for your daily decisions, relationships, and work?

About this Plan

THE PROMISED LAND and Milk and Honey Productions have created this plan to help individuals and groups engage the story of Exodus and Leviticus in a fresh way. In this 30-day devotional, you’ll see clips from THE PROMISED LAND, read passages of Scripture, and reflect on questions that connect Israel’s journey to your own walk of faith. Through humor, reverence, and honesty, we’ll discover that God uses ordinary, imperfect people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.
