DAY ELEVEN — Meeting God on the Mountain
In the midst of thunder, lightning, and trembling earth, God called Moses up the mountain. While the people stood at a distance, Moses entered into God’s presence.
God is both transcendent and personal. He is awesome in holiness, yet He invites human beings into relationship with Him. Moses became a mediator, speaking with God on behalf of the people—a role that ultimately points us to Jesus, our greater Mediator.
For us today, the mountain reminds us that God is not distant. Through Christ, we are welcomed into His presence. We don’t have to stand far off in fear—we can draw near with confidence, knowing He desires relationship with us.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- What stands out to you about God’s holiness in this story?
- How does Jesus make it possible for you to draw near to God without fear?

About this Plan

THE PROMISED LAND and Milk and Honey Productions have created this plan to help individuals and groups engage the story of Exodus and Leviticus in a fresh way. In this 30-day devotional, you’ll see clips from THE PROMISED LAND, read passages of Scripture, and reflect on questions that connect Israel’s journey to your own walk of faith. Through humor, reverence, and honesty, we’ll discover that God uses ordinary, imperfect people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.
