30 Days of Scriptures for Mental Health Struggles

DAY 5 OF 30

Day 5: Do Not Give Up

One of my favorite stories Jesus told is found in the first part of Luke 18. The reason why is because the moral of the story is to “always pray and not give up” (Luke 18:1 NIV). In the story Jesus told, there was an unjust judge who eventually gave in to a widow who was seeking justice by coming to him every day. She was persistent and got what she wanted.

This lesson of being persistent has been important to my mental health because prayer is my direct line to The Almighty God, Creator of the Universe, my Heavenly Father. I know that He is all-powerful, He created me, and He loves me eternally.

So with that understanding, I believed He could change the chemistry in my mind to be stable. Therefore, I prayed every day believing He would, and I still pray every day believing that He will sustain me. He has.

My encouragement to you is to continue in prayer, thanking God for what He has done and asking Him to meet your needs/desires.

Prayer point:

Heavenly Father, Almighty God, thank you for being just, loving, and wise. I ask that you help me build a habit of daily prayer, even throughout the day. Help me lay my burdens at your feet and have faith that you will carry me through. Lord, bless me to not give up on you. Thank you for everything you’re doing in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
