30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

DAY 6 OF 30

Lord, help us forgive as you have forgiven us.

I find it so much easier to forgive the hurts from others than I do the hurts within my marriage. I don’t know why, but my pride rears its ugly head when it comes to forgiving the person I committed to share my life with.

In Colossians 3:13 (NIV), Paul makes it clear: “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Regardless of how I feel, God’s Word is clear, we are forgiven by him over and over and over again, and we are called to forgive in the same way: over and over and over again.

Jesus encourages us in His conversation with Peter in Matthew 18:21-22 (NIV), that our willingness to forgive should be boundless…“seventy times seven.” That’s not a call to keep count and do hard math, that’s a call to be ready and willing to forgive when your spouse messes up because you understand and accept your own great need for forgiveness from the Father who pours it out so generously.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, you are so kind. I don’t even acknowledge all the sins that the cross forgives me for. Help me to extend generous forgiveness to my spouse. Help me to keep no count of wrong doing, and bind Satan from using our mess ups as a weapon in our marriage.

About this Plan

30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

Bringing your marriage before the Lord is both powerful and redemptive. When two imperfect people stand on Scripture and invite God to strengthen their bond, they build a defense the enemy cannot break. What a gift to know God is for your marriage, and for you. These next 30 days are an invitation to declare his Word over your relationship and trust him with what only he can do: protect, grow, and fortify your marriage from the inside out.
