God, grow our faith as we grow together.

Faith is not a one-time decision; it’s a daily walk. That’s why in Colossians Paul says, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him” Colossians 2:6 (NIV). We have to “continue to live in him.”

Just as we began our relationship with Christ by trusting him, we are called to keep growing in that trust every day. The same is true in marriage; faith is not stagnant. God uses the ups and downs of life together to deepen our reliance on him and to strengthen us as a couple. He calls us all throughout hisword to “remember.” In Joshua 4:4–7 (NIV) he called the Israelites to stack stones to remember his faithfulness. In John 16:20–22 (NIV), he called the disciples to remember his words before the cross because their sorrow would soon be replaced with rejoicing. As we remember what he’s done, we are propelled with faith into believing what he can do next. When we keep Christ at the center of our marriage and remember his faithfulness through the years, it binds us more closely together to him and one another.

We’ve had moments of financial instability. Times when I wanted to pause our monthly giving to the church or skip on opportunities to be a blessing in our community since we weren’t sure when the next paycheck would come. It’s in those times we have chosen together to remain faithful in our giving and allow the Lord the space to show off his faithfulness to his people. We chose not to carry the weight alone, and we learned to bring it to him side by side. Now I can see how those choices not only grew my personal faith but also wove a deeper thread of trust and unity into our marriage.

Today's Prayer:

God, grow our faith as we grow together. Remind us that the same Jesus who saved us is the only One who can sustain us day to day. When challenges come, help us to lean on you as one. May our marriage be a testimony of your faithfulness as we continue to walk in you. Amen.
