Transformed

Learning engages your mind, but the application of God’s Word transforms and renews it. Your thinking, attitudes, and choices are derived from your mind. Your perspective and worldview shape how you think, which in turn shapes how you live. That’s why Paul urges believers, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." (Romans 12:2).

The word transformed here comes from the Greek metamorphoō—the root of the English word metamorphosis. Think of a caterpillar, inching its way through life, limited in its abilities. Then, through the miraculous process of metamorphosis, it transforms into a butterfly, emerging with new beauty and the ability to fly hundreds of miles a day. It undergoes a complete, structural change—one that prepares it for a whole new way of living.

You are called into a spiritual transformation—one that completely reshapes your mind through the power of God’s Word. What you dwell on, what you believe in, and how you think all influence the choices you make. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

Paul’s message is this: Don’t conform to the world’s way of thinking and decision-making. Don’t trust your human reasoning. Instead, yield to the renewing of your mind through God’s truth. According to Romans 12, when that transformation is walked out, you’ll begin to walk in the perfect will of God. As you continue connecting with God through Learning, allow His Word to transform and change the very part of yourself you use to learn—your mind.

Prayer

Lord, I yield my mind to You. Search me, O God. Reveal the things I believe in that offend You. Bring clarity and transformation in my mind through Your Word today. In Jesus' name, amen.
