The Fatherless Journey for Girls

DAY 4 OF 10

Today, there are multiple resources for communication. We can email, chat, text, talk on the phone, communicate on social sites such as Facebook, X, and Instagram, and many other avenues. With all of these resources at our fingertips, there are times when we still may feel like we have no one to talk to.

Do you ever just want someone to talk to?

Why not talk to God? Talking to God is simple. You do not have to log in, dial a number, or click send, but rather you just have to begin speaking to Him. He is always there, and He is always willing to listen to you.

David is a great Biblical example of someone who continuously talked to God through the good and the bad times of life. The book of Psalms is filled with conversations that David had with God. These conversations reveal David’s ups and downs in his life. Some Psalms are happy and some are sad.

The Bible shows us in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22 that David was a man after God’s own heart. David loved to talk to God. David was not perfect, but he laid his burdens down at God’s feet. What about you? Who do you talk to in the good and bad times? Who will you talk to in the times to come? James 5:16b (NKJV) tells us that “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” In essence, James 5:16 encourages a community of faith to support each other through confession and prayer, believing that God's power can bring physical and spiritual healing and restoration.

Let's pray ... Dear Lord, I thank You for loving me and giving me the ability to call upon You whenever I want. I ask that You would guide me as I begin to talk to You more. Please give me the strength to get through my fatherless struggles, realizing that You are always there to listen to me. Amen.
