Heaven & Earth: David Ware

Jesus was fully man and yet fully God. Heaven and earth were brought together in and through the person of Jesus, sent from heaven to bring life, to demonstrate the unconditional love of God and to reconcile us with God the Father.

In Matthew 6:9, Jesus taught us to pray that the Father’s kingdom and will would be done on earth as in heaven. Jesus embodied this prayer. Who Jesus was and what He did provides the clearest picture that we have of what heaven on earth actually looks like.

In Luke 4:18, while in the temple, Jesus unrolled the scroll, reading Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners”. Through Jesus’ name alone we have freedom, healing, forgiveness of sin, eternal life – through Jesus, Heaven and earth have collided.
