Moses: The Lessons I Can Learnعينة
How many miracles does it actually take?
"...'How many wonders have I done before their eyes, and they still do not trust Me!'" (Numbers 14:11, HFA, translated from German)
Have you ever read this passage in the Bible? God is speaking to Moses about the Israelites' faith, and I can just imagine the disappointment He must've felt. What hadn't He done for the people of Israel? He had freed them from slavery in Egypt, provided them with food in the desert, and parted the sea before their very eyes. Yet, they still wandered away from Him and questioned His plan for them. If you're like me, your thoughts towards them as you read this passage might be "What's going on? Can't you trust God already?!”
It's easy to get frustrated with the Israelites, but in fact, aren't we just like them?
I, like the Israelites, have experienced many miracles, and God has even saved me from death several times. Nevertheless, I'm currently struggling with doubts because one of my eyes is causing me problems, and I wonder if it will ever heal again.
But you know what? As long as we remember God in all things and keep fighting to do so, we have the opportunity to change something about our situations. Do you know what "fight" means in this context? It means "to stand intensely against something." Doubt is human. That's why we have to fight against it—intensely. What does "intense" mean? It means "concentrated, strong, fierce, continuous." In other words, focused and strong!
When this eye problem started a few days ago, I came upon this well-known verse: "I look up to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord. He is the Maker of heaven and earth." (Psalms 121:1-2, NIRV)
Do you see the connection between the verse in Numbers and this Psalm? Both refer to eyes and the line of vision:
1. "How many wonders have I done BEFORE YOUR EYES...!" My friend, remember what He has already accomplished before your very eyes!
2. "I look UP..."! While you wait for the next miracle, look up in confidence!
I encourage you today to give God all the glory! As you do so, you're also laying a foundation for His next WONDER-ful work. Because your God, who has done these miracles, wants to do more of them for you! Just open your eyes and look up! :-)
You are a miracle!

This week, let's explore Moses' life together. What drove him? What made him doubt? Trust? Where did he need to persevere because circumstances were against him? What does it take to experience miracles as Moses did? And, most importantly, what can we learn today from Moses visible trust in the invisible God?
