Learning How to Hear: A 6 Day Journey of Drowning Out the Noise and Hearing From Godعينة

Hearing Aid Currently, it seems like the news and talk of crisis is drowning us. From the looks of it, nowadays hearing otherwise seems nearly impossible. What we might be able to do is try and regulate how much we hear of it. However, I would like to propose to you that even if we can’t affect what we hear we can affect HOW we hear, by using a hearing aid. A hearing aid amplifies sound for those that cannot hear well. It doesn’t change what they hear but improves how well they hear. Its function is not to affect what they hear but rather how they hear. In the same way, Jesus said in Luke 8:18 “ Take heed therefore how you hear. ” He didn’t say take heed of what you hear but how you hear what you hear. For how we are hearing determines our response to what we have heard. So now, how then shall we hear? What is our hearing aid? Scripture says, “ Faith comes by hearing and hearing BY the word of God, ” Romans 10:17. According to this translation, a response of faith comes by hearing BY the word of God or hearing with the word of God. The word interprets what we hear. When others hear crises, you will hear opportunity (Eph 5:16); when they are hearing despair, you will be hearing hope; when they hear “this is it”, you will hear a new beginning because you hear BY the word. You have the Hearing Aid!!! So now you can hear the news, gather facts, and dialogue with others with your hearing aid on, and that’s the word of God. Life Application: Daily practice hearing from the word first before hearing from the world. Get your hearing aid first. Prayer: Lord, help me drown and filter the noise of the world with the testimony of your word and your precious promises over my life. Amen!
