You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it” (Haggai 1:6). The money we are happy to pay companies like Netflix month after month at the expense of giving for the work of God may eventually get ‘flicked’ – a modern believer can understand that from Haggai 1:6. We should not be like Solomon who spent far more time and treasure building his own palace (13 years) than the time and treasure he spent in building God’s house (7 years) (1 Kings 6:37; I Kings 7:1). May God give us wisdom about the use of streaming services!
