Reading With the People of God #13 Nicene Creed

31 天中的第 31 天

Focus of the month: The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

From Despair to Victory: The Unshakable Hope of Christ

In 2 Kings 25, we see the tragic fall of Jerusalem. The city is destroyed, the people are exiled, and the king is captured. It’s a moment of seeming defeat, but even in this dark hour, there is a glimmer of hope as the promise of restoration lingers. Though the nation of Israel faced judgment and exile, God’s ultimate plan was still at work, pointing toward redemption.

In Matthew 27:62-28:20, the story shifts from despair to triumph. Jesus’ death on the cross appeared as the ultimate defeat, but three days later, He rose from the dead, declaring victory over sin and death. The Great Commission marks the beginning of His kingdom’s unstoppable advance, sending His followers to make disciples of all nations.

The Nicene Creed affirms Jesus as the "Lord, the giver of life" who suffered, died, and rose again for our salvation. As we conclude this reading plan, we are reminded that, just like Israel’s exile gave way to restoration, Jesus’ death and resurrection bring us from despair to everlasting hope. Our journey through 2 Kings, Matthew, and the Nicene Creed has pointed us to the ultimate truth: no matter how dark the world may seem, Christ has conquered, and His victory is ours. Let this truth strengthen your faith today.

Join the movement: Reading God's Word together.

At Cornerstone Church of Chowchilla, a small town in California’s Central Valley, we believe God is doing big things through His Word. Though our town may be small, we are convinced that God has called us to spark a movement of His people reading and growing in His Word together.

We invite you to join us in this mission! Click below to learn more about our monthly group reading plans and how you can participate in what God is doing.

Reading With the People of God #13 Nicene Creed

This is the thirteenth installment of a Bible reading plan following the lectionary pattern, offering daily readings from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament. Each day includes a devotional primer to help prepare your heart and mind for a deeper, more meaningful encounter with Scripture. Additionally, as we commemorate the 1,700-year anniversary of the Nicene Creed this year, this plan provides a daily focus to help us understand and celebrate this foundational confession of our Christian faith.
