21 Days of Prayer; a Devotion on John预览

John 9 | As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me.
Jesus did what the Father sent him to do. He performed the works of God, the hallmarks of the kingdom. In this passage, they are opening the eyes of the blind – that is what Jesus, the Light of the world, does. But we, his followers, are called to be the light of the world, to let the light of Christ and his kingdom shine in the dark places, to open the eyes of the blind, the ignorant, the unseeing. Jesus includes us in his mission: as the Father sent him, so he sends us. And Jesus says, “We must” do the works of God. There is a binding imperative upon us – this is not optional, not exceptional, not debatable. We, God’s privileged, have been entrusted with this gift of light and with this mission from God. We are duty-bound, and if we don’t go and show and tell, who else will, who else can? Where does God want you to be, say, do, and show the light of Jesus today?
