Fear Not! A Guide to Living a Fearless Life预览

Facing Your Giants
"Then we turned and went up the road to Bashan; and Og king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. And the Lord said to me, 'Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.' So the Lord our God also delivered into our hands Og king of Bashan, with all his people, and we attacked him until he had no survivors remaining” (Deuteronomy 3:1-3, NKJV).
God once again delivered His people from their enemies. God had already shown His mighty hand by delivering the Israelites from the Amorites. However, the people of Bashan were no ordinary people; they were giants. "For only Og, king of Bashan, remained of the remnant of the giants” (Deuteronomy 3:11, NKJV).
Size and numbers mean nothing to God, but obedience does. Obedience will often require a step of faith on your part. At some point in your life, you will have to step out in faith to slay some kind of giant obstacle that, in the natural, looks impossible. Just remember Jesus’ words from Matthew 19:25, (NIV) "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
You do not have to fear your giants, nor do you have to tackle them alone. Always, I repeat, always, seek God’s will, timing, and direction when facing your giants. He might say go, or He might say wait; please do not get ahead of God.
Our God is no ordinary God, and He does not do things in an ordinary way. Conventional wisdom does not always line up with what God may ask you to do. Think of Gideon using 300 men armed with only trumpets and torches to slay 120,000 men, or Joshua marching around Jericho and on the seventh day blowing trumpets and shouting to bring down the fortified walls of the city.
If God has given you an assignment, He is not looking at your ability. What He is looking for is your availability. He formed you. God knows what you are capable of, and He does not set you up for failure. God can supply the “extra” to your ordinary to make something extraordinary. He can supply the “super” to your natural to make something supernatural happen. Do not fear your giants. They may be big relative to you, but when you measure them against a mighty God, they are nothing.
Prayer: Lord, You are a mighty God. Help me to see how small my obstacles are in comparison to how big You are. Give me the courage to face my giants today. Because You are with me, I will fear no evil. In Jesus name, amen.
