Easter: A Walk Towards Holy Week (10 Day Plan)预览

DAY 7 | Walking Through Disappointment
As Jesus meets the two on the road to Emmaus, He asks them why they are sad. They respond with disbelief at how He could not know what had happened in Jerusalem. In the depths of our disappointment, we can feel the same way. How can others not understand what is going on or how we are feeling?
Notice their words: "But we had hoped…." Revealing their heart of unmet expectations. They were looking for a political Messiah who would overthrow the Roman rule and establish a glorious earthly kingdom. However, what they witnessed was a man who they thought was their Messiah crucified, leaving their hopes dashed and their hearts heavy. Even in their despair, they experienced something extraordinary—Jesus walked with them, even when they didn't recognize Him. They shared their burdens with Him, expressing their confusion and disappointment. In this moment of vulnerability, Jesus listened.
Life can often bring us face to face with disappointment. Events don't unfold as we had hoped, dreams seem shattered, and oftentimes, expectations are not met. In our moments of disillusionment and confusion, Jesus is nearer than we might realize. He walks alongside us, listening to our hurts and guiding us towards healing. The disciples' limited understanding of God's plan led to their frustration. They didn't yet grasp the full scope of God's plan—a plan that transcended their immediate expectations.
Our understanding is often just as limited, but we must trust in God's larger narrative. His redemptive work often unfolds in ways beyond our anticipation, beyond our immediate sight. His plans are always better than anything we can dream up.
GUIDED PRAYER:
Father, thank You for walking with me through the valleys of disappointment. Help me recognize Your presence, especially when it seems You are distant. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your promises and Your greater, perfect plan. Teach me to lay my expectations at Your feet and to find hope in Your faithfulness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
