The Thicket of the Jordan

Jeremiah 12:5

There is nothing more beautiful than waiting for harvest time. I think that if we sow, this is the moment we are most looking forward to.

The harvest brings many joys and also many challenges. The thicket of the Jordan meant that the harvest time had arrived. The term thicket refers to "glory or majesty," that is, the Jordan in all its majesty.

And if we look at it towards us we can say: The harvest in all its glory, that is a harvest full of splendor and many blessings.

The thicket of the Jordan was abundant vegetation and was so lush that it came to harbor wild animals and beasts, as these animals had the facility to hide in it and wreak havoc as well.

With the harvest, wild animals could also come, so the people had joy for the arrival of the harvest and were alert at the same time.

God says to Jeremiah, "If you do not feel secure in a land of peace, what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?" God will not leave you without a harvest, without all this reward that he has for you, but he also prepares you for the wild animals.

God knows what he is doing and knows that these beasts will not harm you if you face them in His name. Deuteronomy 7:22 says, "But it will be little by little so that the beasts do not multiply against you."

That is, the more people there were, there would surely be more probability that the beasts would attack in other places.

However, when God says it to Jeremiah, he says it figuratively, and he makes him understand that he will face governments and other types of beasts that he should not be afraid of.

God is telling Jeremiah, I am not going to deny you going to the thicket of the Jordan, but you must be prepared for what you are going to find there because I want you to win.

The harvest is inevitable and is full of great blessings, and although there may be fears, evil people, governments, pride, and other types of beasts, you should not be afraid. You should trust that the Spirit of God gives you the power to take everything that belongs to you and the power to overcome.

May the thicket of the Jordan not only remain as a harvest that you could see and not enjoy, due to the beasts, but be the moment of greatest joy because you know that God is with you.
