Give Thanks to God, for He Is Good

Psalm 100

When reading the Bible, we often come across the phrase “God is good”. I myself have read, heard and repeated it so many times that it has become a habit. God has always been characterized to me as merciful, good and just. Because of this, I often forget to thank God precisely for His goodness. I forget to thank Him for so many wonderful blessings that I have received, because He is just the way He is. He wants the best for me. The greatest thing of all is that because of His goodness I have the opportunity to be saved. Such a God deserves my thanks.

Psalm 100 calls us to give thanks to God. But let it not be as if we are completing a task on a checklist, but let it be a sincere and pure-hearted thank you. Let’s thank Him for the goodness because of which we are saved, and which He shows us day by day. These may be little things that don’t seem important to us at first, but we can see God’s action in even the smallest aspects of our lives. Let’s not forget that such a God does not abandon us in our problems and sufferings. Let’s learn to surrender to God, and trust His plan for our life, knowing that He wants good for us, not destruction.
