Worthy: 5 Days to the Resurrection

5天中的第5天

Day 5 - He is alive Easter Sunday is the highest attended church service in the United States annually. There are many reasons for that, but the obvious one is this – the resurrection of the Son of God is the most important event in human history. It only makes sense that the day that event is celebrated is such a big deal. Believers, unbelievers, nominal Christians, and people dragged to church by family members come together for this yearly celebration. What exactly is so significant about the resurrection of Jesus? If He is God in the flesh, then it’s not noteworthy that He can come back from the dead, right? 1 Corinthians 15:16-17 says, “For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, and you are still in your sins.” We celebrate the resurrection of Christ because His resurrection is proof that His sacrifice was sufficient. The debt for our sins was paid off. The check cleared the bank. His resurrection is the stamp of approval from the Father. Had Jesus not risen, death would remain undefeated. In His resurrection, Christ demonstrates His power over sin and the grave. We also celebrate the resurrection because a dead Savior could not save. The promise of calling on Jesus for salvation is sure because Jesus is alive right now to receive all who do so. Lastly, His resurrection is the surety, guaranteeing that we will also be resurrected one day. We celebrate the resurrection because doing so reminds us that our Savior is alive and victorious. For reflection: As the Easter season draws to a close, maybe you’re noticing that you’ve paid more attention to the things of God in this season. Perhaps you’ve given more thought to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus than you usually do. Why stop here? Why not find ways to look to the cross, receive His love by faith, and obey Him every day?
