Start the Party - High School预览

Almost everyone dreads running “The Mile” at school. I’m included in this. The one day when everyone can have to race their classmates for an excruciating mile just isn’t my favorite day. Now take that and imagine you not only have to run one mile but TWO miles. It doesn’t sound fun, right? So then, why does Jesus call us to run the extra mile? We live in a society that constantly tells us we deserve to take what is ours and that we must fight for the recognition we deserve for our great works. But Jesus calls us to a different way. Jesus calls us to put the needs of other people above our own. He tells us we should choose to go above and beyond what’s required of us to serve others. Maybe this means choosing not to get back at a friend who hurt you but instead being the bigger person. Maybe this is choosing not just to do the chores your parents give you with a grumpy attitude but to do them while intentionally choosing a positive attitude. Jesus instructs us to go the extra mile. When we do, we wind up bringing glory to God through our humility and actions. Today, look for a way to go above and beyond what was asked of you. Then take action by choosing to go the extra mile!
