Daily Presence预览

God is truly the only steadfast thing I know. In the hills and valleys of life, He continually stands firm as an eternal foundation of goodness. Politics change, relationships change, people change, circumstances change, but God is a sure footing. I’m worshiping the same God who led the very people we read about in scripture.
As I read through Jeremiah, I find myself frustrated and confused by the fickle lives of God’s people. Don't they know how powerful their God is? And then I look in the mirror and see the same unfaithful choices mirrored in my own heart. I’m so thankful for these chapters, not because they’re full of happiness and peace, but because they reveal the part of God’s character I hold onto the most; His enduring love.
Jeremiah 33:11 pulls directly from Psalm 136. Let’s meditate for a moment on the scripture Jeremiah is referring to in this time of inconsistency and judgment.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
To him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
Who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.
Who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.
Who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.
The sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
The moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.”
We’re reminded of the scope of who our God truly is in these passages! His love transcends our poor choices, our unstable faith, our turning away, and even our sin. When I start to believe I’ve gone too far or I’ve done too much, God shows up again.
