Do you know Him?

David is a man who has spent his entire life getting to know God. He speaks in this psalm as a man reflecting on all he knows, but also actively trying to find out more (v5-6). He has had ups and downs, he’s known God intimately, and he's also felt rejected by Him. But if we look at his life as a whole, he is generally moving forward and growing closer to God each day. Do you know who God is? Do you know Him better today than you knew Him yesterday? David strives to keep finding out more about his creator. And his response is then to praise.

It’s interesting that in this psalm David, for the most part, just recites things God is or has done. There’s not flattery or inflation, just a natural response of praise and worship after hearing about a God deserving of such. His works speak for themselves (v10).

I guess the question is then, do you know God? Do you know who He is? Do you know what He’s done? If you do, then what other choice is there but to praise Him!

Questions

What are 10 things that God has done both for you and His people?

Why are they significant and worthy of praise?

Pray

Lord, you are so mighty. And so powerful. I bring you praise!

I look back on everything you’ve done in my life and for your people and I’m awestruck.

Thank you for who you are. Thank you for your grace.

Amen
