Joy: 37-Day Devotional预览

I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions. Mostly because I’m not one to stick with them. Whatever the goal, the excitement usually fizzles long before January comes to a close. But 2019 was different.
One Sunday morning in early January, I asked my pastor to pray with me. I was asking God to pull me out of my comfort zone, to stretch me. My pastor’s reaction should have raised a red flag for me. He asked me, “Tiffany, are you ready for what this means?” He said it with a huge smile. I believe it was the smile that kept the magnitude of my request from sinking in.
It wasn’t until God began tugging at my heart that I realized just what I had gotten myself into. He was definitely pulling me in a new direction. I now wonder if God thinks I am a rubberband, one that He is stretching just to the point of snapping before letting it go and watching it take flight in a new direction each time. I hope He’s pleased by how far I’ve been willing to go and excited to pick me up and do it all over again!
I want to love people as Jesus did. I want to live a life worthy of the gospel of Christ. God has proven that He will equip me for whatever task He puts before me. He reminds me daily that I am not alone. He is always with me and has given me a wonderful group of people to serve alongside. He also reminds me that all it takes is a little courage, perseverance, and a lot of love.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your mercy and Your never-ending love. I am thankful that You are willing to work through ordinary people in extraordinary ways. I pray, Lord, that You will help each of us to step out of our comfort zones. I pray we will be willing to be a rubber band in the Master’s hands and willing to follow Your call and launch ourselves in to a new direction. Thank You, Father, for loving us. Amen!
