“So that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go into the sanctuary and assign to each man his work and what he is to carry.” (Numbers 4:19 NIV)

The special gift of service was given by God to Aaron and his sons as priests. Other than that, they were also given the responsibility to direct the Levites who helped them so that they would do as ordered and not perish in doing their duty.
 

Remember: A significant gift (authority) always comes with an equally significant responsibility.
