About the book of 2 Chronicles
This book tells us about the Israelites from the time of King Solomon. #1:0 The Israelites were the descendants of Jacob, who was also called Israel. Jacob's 12 sons became the ancestors of Israel's 12 tribes. The land that God gave to them as their home was called Israel. It tells us more about some of the things that we can read in 1 Kings and 2 Kings.
The first 9 chapters are about Solomon. He built the first temple in Jerusalem.
When Solomon died, the nation of Israel divided into two kingdoms. The kingdom in the north was still called Israel. The kingdom in the south was called Judah.
The other chapters of 2 Chronicles are about the kings of Judah. Some of them were good kings but many of them were bad. They did not worship God. God sent prophets to tell them to turn back to him, but they still did not worship him. So God sent the Babylonians to take the people of Israel away from their land for about 70 years.
