Philippians 3

True Righteousness
1Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. # Php 4:4; 1Th 5:16 To write the same things to you is no trouble to me, and it is reassuring for you. 2Watch out for dogs, watch out for evil workers, # 2Co 11:13; Gal 5:15 watch out for those who practice mutilation. 3For we are the circumcision who worship God in the Spirit, # Col 2:11; Jude 20 and boast in Christ Jesus, and place no trust in the flesh, 4though I also have confidence in the flesh.
If any other man thinks that he has reason to trust in the flesh, I have more: 5I was circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, # Ro 11:1 and a Hebrew of Hebrews; # 2Co 11:22 as concerning the law, a Pharisee; # Ac 23:6 6concerning zeal, persecuting the church; # Ac 8:3; 22:3–4 and concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
7But what things were gain to me, I have counted these things to be loss for the sake of Christ. # Lk 14:33 8Yes, certainly, I count everything as loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, # Jn 17:3; 2Pe 1:3 for whom I have forfeited the loss of all things and count them as rubbish that I may gain Christ, 9and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness which is from the law, # Php 3:6 but that which is through faith in Christ, # 1Co 1:30 # 3:9 Or through the faithfulness of Christ. See also Ro 3:22, 26; Ga 2:16, 20; 3:22; Ep 3:12 the righteousness which is of God on the basis of faith, 10to know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, # Ro 8:17 being conformed to His death, 11if somehow I might make it to the resurrection of the dead. # Rev 20:5–6
Pressing Toward the Mark
12Not that I have already attained or have already been perfected, # 1Co 13:10 but I follow after it so that I may lay hold of that for which I was seized by Christ Jesus. # 1Ti 6:19 13Brothers, I do not count myself to have attained, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, # Ps 45:10; Lk 9:62 14I press toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. # Heb 3:1; 1Pe 5:10
15Therefore let those of us who are mature be thus minded. # 1Co 2:6 And if you think differently in any way, God will reveal even this to you. # Gal 5:10 16Nevertheless, according to what we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, # Gal 6:16 let us be of the same mind.
17Brothers, become fellow imitators with me # 1Co 4:16 and observe those who walk according to our example. # 1Pe 5:3 18For many are walking in such a way that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ. # Gal 6:12 I have told you of them often and tell you again, even weeping. 19Their destination is destruction, their god is their appetite, # Ro 16:18; 2Pe 2:3 their glory is in their shame, their minds are set on earthly things. 20But our citizenship is in heaven, # Eph 2:19 and it is from there that we wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, # Ac 1:11; 1Co 1:7 21who will transform our body of humiliation, so that it may be conformed to His glorious body, # Col 3:4 according to the working of His power, even to subdue all things to Himself.
