And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: "Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"

And behold, the veil of the temple was torn into two parts, from top to bottom. And the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split apart. And the tombs were opened. And many bodies of the saints, which had been sleeping, arose.

Then Jesus, crying out again with a loud voice, gave up his life.

Now the centurion and those who were with him, guarding Jesus, having seen the earthquake and the things that were done, were very fearful, saying: "Truly, this was the Son of God."

Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the entire earth, even until the ninth hour.

Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do about Jesus, who is called Christ?" They all said, "Let him be crucified." The procurator said to them, "But what evil has he done?" But they cried out all the more, saying, "Let him be crucified."
