Heaven (Part 1)Àpẹrẹ

I Can Only Imagine
Yesterday, I asked the question: Have you ever imagined what Heaven will be like?
I can remember at around 3 to 5 years of age starting to form a concept in my mind of Heaven, without knowing the detail or any serious explanation of it. I can remember my mom praying to ‘God in Heaven’, and she would sing me to sleep each night with a mixture of popular songs and some with Christian meaning.
This was probably from a place of tradition and not from the truth of relationship that we both went on to discover in subsequent years.
As I have looked at my family tree in later life and identified something of faith in God in my background, you can see that different generations and people have lost that legacy, or it had become somewhat eroded or watered down over time.
Today, I’m reminded of a beautiful song by Mercy Me, called 'I Can Only Imagine', that speaks of the wonder and anticipation of Heaven.
What will it be like to stand before God, to experience His presence fully, and to live in a place of eternal joy?
It’s a song that stirs something deep within us. It reminds us of the limits of our imagination, yet points to the promise that Heaven will far exceed anything we could ever ask for or dream of.
The thought of seeing Jesus face to face, walking and talking with Him, and living in perfect peace fills our hearts with both hope and longing.
The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:9: 'No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him' (NLT).
This is a great biblical promise. Our lives on Earth, when we are fully surrendered to God, can begin to experience some wonderful things, but Heaven is a place more outstanding, more glorious, and more fulfilling than we could possibly think!
Reflect
- Reflect today with the song 'I Can Only Imagine'.
- What does the thought of Heaven stir in your heart?
- Are you living with the hope and anticipation of one day standing in God’s presence?
Take a moment to listen, reflect, and let the promise of Heaven inspire you today. Do be confident in sharing any thoughts you have.
Pray
Although I can only imagine the wonder of Heaven, thank You, Lord, for the promise of what’s to come. As I wait hopefully and expectantly, I pray my faith will grow stronger day by day, and my feelings of joy at the thought of spending eternity with You will never diminish. Amen
