Purpose of friendship

"A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." - Proverbs 18:24 (ESV)

How much of your time with friends is meant for your benefit, and when is it for the other person's advantage?

At the heart of this, the film The Banshees of Inisherin is a depiction of the need for friends.

Forgive the pun, but on one hand, there is the irritation of these relationships and how we need to look beyond our own needs.

On the other hand, we can see the value of friendship within the dullness of life and how someone’s presence is as significant as their words.

Humans are designed for community and friendship. Each of these relationships needs work and commitment that forgives selfishness and pride while seeking a richer connection with those we love.

So, do you need to reconcile with your friend today and rekindle a connection that has been long neglected?

"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." - Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)
