The witness of the Servant
Yesterday as you were reading, you tried to identify yourself with either the prophets or the Israelites who had abandoned their role as God's witnesses. In reality, we all can do some flip-flopping between the two roles, but even God's most consistent witnesses could never be enough.
Although God explicitly called Israel his "witnesses" (Isaiah 43:10-13), Isaiah prophesied that God would raise up a true servant who would fulfill the role of Israel and bless the nations (Isaiah 49:6).
As you are reading today, pay attention to how God not only calls the Israelites blind and deaf but his future servant too. Why would he also call this future servant blind and deaf? What do you think the message is?
