У цей час прийшли Його учні і здивувалися, що Він розмовляє з жінкою; проте ніхто з них не сказав: Що Ти хочеш? — чи: Чому Ти розмовляєш із нею? Тоді жінка залишила свій глек, пішла в місто і каже людям: Ідіть подивіться на Чоловіка, Який розказав мені все, що я зробила: чи не Він Христос? Вони вийшли з міста і пішли до Нього. Тим часом учні просили Його: Равві, їж. Та Він сказав їм: У мене є їжа, про яку ви не знаєте. Тоді учні почали говорити між собою: Невже хтось приніс Йому їсти? Ісус каже їм: Моя їжа — чинити волю Того, Хто Мене послав, і виконати Його діло. Чи не кажете ви: Ще чотири місяці, і настануть жнива? Ось Я кажу вам: Підніміть свої очі і подивіться на ниви, як вони вже побіліли й поспіли до жнив. Хто жне, той отримує нагороду і збирає плід у вічне життя, так що разом радітимуть і хто сіє, і хто жне.
